Berlin Science Week will take place between 1-10 November and ScienceOpen is preparing something special for the occasion!
Make sure to kick off the Week right by coming to our workshop on Friday, Nov. 1, 16:00-20:00 (save the date!). This year we are focusing on going beyond Google in your online search for verified scientific resources.
Berlin Science Week is an international gathering, bringing together people from the world’s most innovative scientific institutions to celebrate science, to connect and engage with the local and international science community and the public.
At ScienceOpen, we believe that we cannot fully participate in open scientific debate without access to the underlying science. That is why we want to introduce you to free methods of making your online search run smoothly and target the most relevant resources. Our hands-on workshop will be a great opportunity to learn more about open discovery tools that help you narrow the scope of your search and conveniently sort the results. Drop in with your computer and an interest in science and we will help you develop efficient online research strategies!
We will explore freely accessible scientific search engines, recommendation engines and metrics for assessment of quality with the purpose of finding and identifying good research. The strategies of experts may differ from those of interested citizens, but the goal is the same – critically read and understand the research in order to engage constructively with it.
Before we celebrate science, we need to get to know it! Our team looks forward to sharing their expertise, so just pop into our workshop and find out for yourself how we make science open!
