In today’s article, we want to focus on the list of university presses that have chosen ScienceOpen to publish their journals and research, as well as the various fields of research that their publications cover.
UCL Press

Our long-standing partnership with UCL Press has been marked by the provision of various publishing solutions, which serve as the best example of the wide range of services available to university presses on ScienceOpen.
UCL Press, based at University College London, is UK’s first fully Open Access university press. They combine the benefits of traditional scholarly publishing with a progressive, forward-thinking ethos on dissemination, by utilizing innovative digital solutions to provide a fast, quality-driven publishing service.
ScienceOpen currently hosts 14 journals, as well as numerous special series and issues, researcher, and thematic collections by UCL Press.
We recently assisted them in the creation of themed collections containing research by UCL-affiliated authors. Amsterdam University Press
Amsterdam University Press Books is one of the world’s leading scholarly publishers, with books in the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences currently being indexed on our platform. ScienceOpen has also provided expert technical assistance in the creation of rich, machine-readable metadata as well as the assignment and deposit of Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to Crossref for AUP.
AUP is an acronym that stands for scholarly excellence, global presence, and participation in the international academic community.
Their goal is to make current research available to scholars, students, innovators, and the public. AUP publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed academic books in English, textbooks for universities and higher education, journals, and major reference works.
University of Buckingham Press

University of Buckingham Press is an independent publishing company that works closely with the University of Buckingham, the UK’s first private university. You can currently access different publications from 7 UBP journals on ScienceOpen, covering subjects including education, humanities, art, law, medicine, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the environment.
We collaborate with the University of Buckingham Press not only on promoting their journals on our network but also on distributing content to key academic content repositories and assisting with metadata enhancement.
Michigan Publishing
The University of Michigan Press (UMP) is another leading publisher and distributor of books and digital projects in the field of humanities and social sciences.
ScienceOpen’s collaboration with Michigan Publishing has been focusing on updating and delivering rich metadata to Crossref, including abstracts and machine-readable open-access license information, to improve discoverability. ScienceOpen promotes these titles on our platform by linking back to the Publisher’s content page and the online store where the books can be purchased.

Radboud University Press is an open-access diamond publisher of high-quality academic peer-reviewed books and journals in a variety of disciplines. UUM Press
Universiti Utara Malaysia Press publishes original research in Malay and English. Established in 1988 as a department of the university, UUM Press has evolved today into a dedicated and dynamic scholarly publishing house that has published over 600 books and eight reputable journals, all of which are available on ScienceOpen.

Unisa Press – University of South Africa
The University of South Africa (Unisa) is located in Pretoria, one of the three capitals of South Africa, and serves a huge student population of nearly 400,000.
Unisa Press is the largest university press in Africa, publishing both books and journals.
Our collaboration with the University of South Africa (Unisa) Press has focused on the development and maintenance of their preprint server, UnisaRxiv.
UnisaRxiv will serve as a forum for open peer-review of preprint manuscripts and the rapid dissemination of the most recent findings in a variety of fields. Researchers at all stages of their careers are encouraged to submit high-quality research manuscripts, including early-career researchers, professionals, and senior scholars.
Bristol University Press
Bristol University Press is another scholarly publisher on ScienceOpen.
BUP aims to publish world-class scholarship that advances theory, knowledge, and learning both within and outside of academia. This vibrant university press challenges the status quo, advocates for social justice, and reframes ideas in a global context.
We have collaborated with BUP to create a COVID-19 Collection that investigates some of the social consequences of the pandemic, such as research into the role of COVID-19 in shifting political power boundaries, rising levels of poverty, increased social isolation, etc. At the same time, their Journal of Poverty and Social Justice (JPSJ) is part of our network, and it provides an internationally unique forum for leading research on the topics of poverty and social justice.

University of Westminster Press
The University of Westminster Press is a digital-first open access publisher of peer-reviewed academic books, policy briefs, and journals that was launched in 2015. It publishes widely in the social sciences, humanities, and in environmental studies across its range of books and journals.
Their publications focus on areas that reflect the teaching and research strengths of the University of Westminster in social sciences and humanities, environment and cities, media arts and design, and other subject areas. On ScienceOpen you can find publications from three of their journals: Westminster Papers in Communication and Culture; Silk Road: A Journal of Eurasian Development, and Anthropocenes – Human, Inhuman, Posthuman, as well as the UWP Books collection.
University of Maribor
Founded in 2008, the University of Maribor Press operates on a modern basis and meets the demands of today’s rapidly changing scientific communication.
Its main mission is to take care of the publishing activities of the University of Maribor or its members and, most importantly, to disseminate the achievements of authors from the University of Maribor and other esteemed authors as widely as possible online.
UMP publishes books and magazines, textbooks, and other publications in various fields of science, technology, art, humanities, and social sciences. Promoting UP Scholarship in History in collaboration with Longleaf
ScienceOpen has partnered with Longleaf Services to provide metadata and promotional services for its Mellon-funded initiative, the Sustainable History Monograph Pilot (SHMP).
The Sustainable History Monograph Pilot is an open access pilot aiming to push academic book publishing to the open model. Longleaf Services works with university presses to publish open digital editions of high-quality books in the field of history. ScienceOpen has indexed the publications from this initiative in the Sustainable History Monograph Pilot featured collection to help spread awareness of the SHMP.
