We are excited to announce that Hogrefe, the leading scientific publisher for psychology, psychiatry, and mental health in Europe, has worked with us to add book records to their collections on ScienceOpen. By combining books and journal article records in collections, ScienceOpen works as a platform to “un-silo” publishers’ content. Hogrefe has previously created ten collections on ScienceOpen to feature their journals’ content. These collections include eight thematic collections on topics such as medicine, nursing, and psychology, aCovid-19 collection, and auniversal Collection comprising over 17,000 publications. Bringing together book and journal content around similar topics embedded in ScienceOpen’s interactive search platform gives a new way for readers to interact with and discover research that’s relevant for them!
Join us for a Panel Discussion on Open Peer Review for Peer Review Week 2021
This year, Peer Review Week is taking place September 20th through 24th, and ScienceOpen has put together an expert panel to discuss the why’s and how’s of open peer review. Peer Review Week is an annual weeklong event that is led by the community to celebrate the essential role that peer review plays in scientific and academic communication. The event brings together all those committed to sharing the central message that quality peer review, whatever shape or form it might take, is critical to scholarly research. As a proponent of open peer review, we thought it would be the perfect topic to discuss during Peer Review Week this year. Below you will find the details and registration link for the panel we have assembled to discuss everything on the topic of open peer review which will take place on September 24th at 4 pm London time (UTC+1). We would love to have you join this free, online event during Peer Review Week!

ScienceOpen features humanities and social sciences research
Although our name may suggest a focus on the physical and natural sciences, ScienceOpen works with all types of scholarly publishers. Many of our partners are publishing in the fields of humanities and social sciences (HSS), and so ScienceOpen is a great resource for research in these areas in addition to STEM subjects. In this post, we are pleased to highlight some very interesting and recently added HSS content and Collections on the platform.
On June 18th we hosted our very first User Meeting for ScienceOpen customers and it was a great success! We introduced many of the new projects and services at ScienceOpen and allowed our customers to share their own projects. This format helped spark ideas and questions among our clients, exemplifying the vast array of solutions offered by ScienceOpen and giving us ideas for how we can expand our services in the future. For those that were unable to attend and for anyone else interested, we have prepared a report of the meeting for you.
From citation tracking to open access book hosting to metadata enhancement, we have been busy at ScienceOpen creating and expanding options for scholarly book publishers. Since the Fall of 2019, we have been committed to making academic books discoverable within ScienceOpen’s citation network. In that relatively short period of time, we have gone from first expanding our indexing services to books and book chapters to receiving funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research to build a free user interface to manage open access book metadata. In this post, we summarize our book options for publishers and highlight the diverse featured Book Collections on the platform thus far. Keep reading if you are a book publisher or just want to discover some interesting innovations for open access books!
