ScienceOpen was founded to facilitate scientific exchange and accelerate scholarly communication, and a main pillar of how we do this is by fostering open and public communication among academics. We think it is especially important for collaborations to reach across continental and cultural boundaries to increase inclusivity in the scientific community. Thus, we continually reach out to publishers and organizations outside of the Western research community of Europe and North America to increase the diversity of content on ScienceOpen, both in topics and perspectives. In doing so, we strive to broaden the global context of research indexed on the platform and to expand the network of researchers using ScienceOpen to encourage collaboration among research communities. These efforts have led to the start of many new projects across the world, and today, we are proud to introduce our newest partnership with the Pan African Medical Journal (PAMJ).
With the current global pandemic, the importance of Open Science in scientific medical research has been recognized by many as critical in developing effective treatment strategies to overcome this health crisis. We are pleased to announce a new cooperation with Partners in Digital Health (PDH) to showcase the Gold open access journal, Blockchain in Healthcare Today (BHTY). BHTY is the world’s first peer-reviewed journal that amplifies and disseminates distributed ledger technology (DLT) research and innovations in the healthcare sector. BHTY content is now integrated into our ever-growing database, which currently contains nearly 65 million records, in a uniqueFeatured Collection.
Karger Publishers, one of world’s leading health sciences publishers, will feature publications from dozens of their international, peer-reviewed journals in 11 topical Collections on ScienceOpen, including ten Collections of handpicked articles on specialized fields of medicine, as well as a special Collection on COVID-19. The new Collections are an invaluable digital resource for medical researchers and practitioners, and thanks to their comprehensive scope and the richness of the content, will boost dissemination of high-quality medical research in the digital space.

We are therefore thrilled to be working with Karger Publishers to highlight these high-quality resources within the ScienceOpen discovery environment and encourage community interaction.
Diamond Open Access journals shining bright on the colorful Open Access landscape. These independent scholarly forums provide immediate Open Access completely free of charge to both authors and readers. Their mission of making academic knowledge a public good is achieved with support from academic institutions and donations but more importantly it is achieved by the passionate volunteer work of editors, editorial board members, and reviewers.
To help these valuable contributions to become more visible, we run a free indexing competition for APC-free OA journals and offer our winners a Featured Collection for one year for free. Collections are a specialized and customized promotional service to increase visibility and findability of selected journals or selected research topics within our discovery platform and can easily be used to also track and measure usage of research articles.
In the last round of 2017, focus was on the field of medicine and health, since Open Access to research might nowhere be of more immediate importance. Our winners connect research from Europe, India, and Asia and give you an insight of the latest medical innovations as well as research on physical and mental wellbeing.
